As Easter approaches, families looking for a fun day outover the bank holiday can plan ahead for an ‘egg-stra’ special train journey to the North Coast.

Translink has announced details of its popular dedicated family trains to Portrush on Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday, with a special appearance from the Easter Bunny for young passengers to meet and greet.

Departing from Belfast Grand Central Station at 9.40am, return tickets are just £24 for up to two adults and four children, offering a fun journey and a great destination for a family day out, without the hassle of taking the car.

Commenting on the special Easter family train, Mark Montgomery, Route Manager Northern Area – Rail Services, said:

“The Easter Train is always very popular with families keen to enjoy the start of Spring and make the most of the bank holiday with pre-booked tickets and great value fares. Not only does the journey from Belfast to Portrush take in some of Northern Ireland’s most striking scenery, it’s also a fun experience for little ones as they get to meet the Easter bunny on board the train.

“We advise booking ahead to guarantee a spot and look forward to welcoming families on board.”

The return train departs Portrush Train Station at 18:25, and printed tickets should be retained for your return journey.

Tickets for this rail special are available to buy online only with sales close 30 minutes prior to departure from originating station. Customers will receive email confirmation of their order and are required to collect tickets from Ticket Vending Machine prior to boarding train.

A strict no smoking and no alcohol policy operates on all services.
