23 month old Tavia Michella Ximenes Da Costa
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team have charged one man and two women in connection with the murder of a little girl, Tavia Michella Ximenes Da Costa, who was just 23 months old.
Police, along with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, responded to the report of the sudden death of a child in the Windmill Court area of the Dungannon on Sunday morning, 13 October.
Sadly, Tavia, who was just weeks away from her second birthday, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the results of a post mortem examination, police confirmed that they were treating her death as a murder.
This morning, Thursday 17 October, a 29 year old man has been charged with murder and cruelty to children, a 21 year old woman has been charged with manslaughter, causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable person and cruelty to children and a 24 year old woman has been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable person and cruelty to children.
All three are due to appear at Strabane Magistrates Court on Thursday 17th October. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
