PSNI Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell Attends Royal Garden Party at Hillsborough Castle in First Public Appearance Since Attack


Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell, who was shot several times in an attempted murder bid by the New IRA in February in Omagh, attended a garden party at Hillsborough Castle this afternoon, Wednesday 24 May.



The event was hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, who are currently on a two-day visit to Northern Ireland, the first since their recent Coronation.


The garden party was one of a number of events that the King and Queen attended during their visit to Northern Ireland. They also met with political leaders, visited businesses, and attended a church service.



The Royal couple visited the new Coronation Garden at Hazelbank Park in Newtownabbey, County Antrim.


The King and Queen were warmly greeted by his Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, Mr David McCorkell KStJ, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross, The High Sheriff of County Antrim, Mr Peter Mackie, DL, Chief Executive of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, Mrs Jacqui Dixon MBE and Mr John Finucane MP.
