Cullybackey College has announced an exceptional closure day for tomorrow, Monday 21 March, for the funeral of Mr Allan Foster, who was a member of staff at the school.
The impact of Mr Foster’s sudden death at his home on 16 March, for both students and staff alike, is testimony to the high regard in which the much-loved and respected local man was held.
Mr Foster was described as a great “friend and colleague” and a number of students at the school, where Allan was employed as a Technology Technician for 11 years, commented how he always went over and above to help them with their projects.
In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, 16 March, a spokesperson for Cullybackey College said:
“It is with great sadness that we as a College wish to acknowledge the sudden passing of our colleague and friend, Mr Allan Foster.
“Allan was a much valued member of the Cullybackey College community as Technology Technician for 11 years.
“Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with his wife, Alison, son, Matthew, and the wider family circle.
“Safe in the arms of Jesus.”

Allan worked closely with the staff and pupils from the Art Department of the school, helping with practical projects over the years. Posting on social media, art teacher, Mrs Emma Andrews, shared a photo (above) from a recent school formal and commented:
“Today our school community Cullybackey College was left devastated to hear of the sudden passing of our friend and colleague Allan Foster this morning. The unofficial Art Dept technician to Cullybackey Art Department and ourselves… even when he moaned and complained… and he did… he always came good in the end and secretly loved it! We have had so many laughs together and such a huge loss to our entire school community will always be felt. #youllneverwalkalone #workfamily”
