Larne RNLI is looking for a new Lifeboat Medical Adviser to join its volunteer team and to help save lives at sea.
The station is looking for someone who can providemedical advice and support to the lifeboat crew to enable the efficient working of the lifeboat service.
Among the tasks, the Lifeboat Medical Adviser will conduct medical examinations for enrolled lifeboat crew and shore helpers in line with RNLI medical standards.
Jonathan Shirley, Larne RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager said:
“This role would suit someone from the medical profession who can provide us with the specialist advice and support we need to support our sea going crew as well as those on the shore who help launch the lifeboats.
“This volunteer is not required to go to sea and unlike the crew, they don’t need to live within a close distance of the station or attend call outs so hopefully that provides more flexibility for anyone who would like to join our team.
“Volunteering with us gives you the opportunity to make a real difference in the community, to save lives and become part of the larger RNLI family - it really is very rewarding and satisfying to play your part. We can’t keep people safe without the support of our wonderful volunteers who truly make a difference every day no matter which role they are fulfilling.”
Larne RNLI was established in 1994 and lifeboats have been launching into the waters of East Antrim and the North Channel from Larne ever since. Today the station operates an all-weather Trent class lifeboat and a inshore D class lifeboat.
