Construction Excellence Award for Magheracross Scenic Viewpoint and Trailhead

Magheracross Scenic Viewpoint and Trailhead was among the winners at the recent Construction Employers Federation Excellence Awards.

It was named General Construction Project of the Year (below £1 million), with the award presented to Charles Brand Ltd, the main contractor for the project.

The major infrastructure work, which included the installation of panoramic viewing points, was officially opened to the public last summer.

Located on the Dunluce Road on the edge of Portrush, it has developed the scenic viewpoint into a strategic stopping place and trailhead, offering mesmerising views overlooking the coastal headland, Whiterocks and the majestic ruins of Dunluce Castle.

Welcoming its success, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Ivor Wallace, said:

“Our Borough’s natural assets, including our stunning coastline, help to make Causeway Coast and Glens a stand-out destination.

“Alongside this, we recognise the importance of complementary high-quality infrastructure which enhances the overall experience of our visitors, and this is what we have achieved at Magheracross.

“The significant development has transformed the area into a world class facility which allows people to get as close as possible to our inspiring landscapes.

“I would like to congratulate our main contractor Charles Brand and all those who collaborated to make our vision for this location a reality.”
