The Community Rescue Service (CRS) has paid tribute to “friend and colleague” Lee McCormick (53) who sadly lost his life this past week in a road traffic collision.

The well-known and much loved Ballymena man was riding his motorcycle to work on Thursday morning, January 16, when the tragic two-vehicle collision occurred on Steeple Road, Antrim.

In the days since, members of the local community have taken to social media to pay tribute to Lee, described by many as ‘a gentleman’.

A CRS spokesperson shared the sad news of Lee’s death and paid tribute to him saying:

“We regret to inform you of the passing of our friend and colleague Lee McCormick.

“Lee has been one of our Emergency Response Bike volunteers for many years and we pay tribute to his contribution to our communities across the country and to the CRS.

“The management and volunteers of the Community Rescue Service extend our prayers and deepest sympathy to Lee’s family, friends and colleagues.”

Earlier today, Sunday January 19, family and friends gathered at Victory Praise Community Church in Pennybridge for Lee’s funeral service, before laying their loved one to rest at Ballee Cemetery.

Lee was the much loved husband of Lorna, loving father of Blaine and Rylee, devoted son of Josie and the late Leslie, dear brother of Tracey and Dawn and a beloved brother-in-law and uncle.
