Cheers! Council gains occasional licence for Garden Bar at Garden Show Ireland

Antrim and Newtownabbey Council were granted an occasional licence today (Tuesday 26 April) for one of the borough’s flagship events when their application was raised at Antrim Magistrates Court sitting in Ballymena.

The local authority made an application to serve alcohol at the annual Garden Show Ireland event, set to be hosted this weekend at Antrim Castle Gardens in the town.

Commenting, a spokesperson for Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council said:

“The Council is delighted with the return of Garden Show Ireland to the award winning Antrim Castle Gardens from Friday 29 April – Sunday 1 May.

“This flagship event attracts in the region of 20K visitors to our Borough.

“We aim to ensure that returning and new visitors are welcomed with an incredible programme of gardening demonstrations, talks, workshops and activities the whole family can enjoy throughout this three-day Festival of Flowers, Food and Fun.

“This event is the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland, it is completely unique in nature.

“Incorporating the occasional license for the event allows us to add the Garden Bar element to the show which will sell and promote local products and also to welcome our new catering franchise Diana’s.”
