Capture Christmas in town this weekend with the Ballymena Christmas Roadshow!

The streets of Ballymena town centre are set to glow with festive cheer as the Ballymena Christmas Roadshow kicks off tomorrow, Saturday 14th December!


The fun begins at 11am at Wellington Court (beside the Ulster Bank on Wellington Street) with completely free family festive fun welcoming the local community and visitors from further afield.



Downtown Radio Christmas Roadshow will be bringing the festive vibes from 11am until 3pm. Host Kirstie will be there with music, amazing giveaways, and festive vibes galore. Make sure to stop by, say hello, for your chance to win some delightful surprises!

Thanks to Ballymena Means, Glitterbug NI will be spreading holiday cheer with FREE face painting and balloon modelling for the kids from 12noon until 4pm.


Moreover, festive guest characters will make special appearances between 1pm and 3pm to entertain the little ones and enhance the Christmas magic!


Don’t miss the grand finale at 6pm when the Ballymena Night-Time Christmas Santa Runwill roll into town. Organised by The Traction Engine Club of Ulster, in partnership with Ballymena BID and Downtown Radio, you will be sure to enjoy an unforgettable festive experience!



Expect lots of tractors and other motor vehicles suitably festooned in twinkling lights for the festive season - and of course, keep an eye out for Santa himself!

This year's Santa Run, following a successful turnout at last year’s inaugural event, invites all festively decorated and illuminated vehicles to participate in a magical journey through Ballymena town centre.


Participants will not only brighten the night but also contribute to a heartwarming cause, with proceeds benefiting the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.


- Date & Time: Those taking part in the Santa Run are invited to arrive at the assembly point for registration from 3:30pm onwards at Ballymena Livestock Market, Woodside Road, BT42 4QJ.



- Route: The Santa convoy will depart Ballymena Livestock Market at 5:30pm for a tour around the town centre, returning to the market by approximately 7:00pm, taking the following route:


Woodside Road - Raceview Road - Broughshane Road - Broughshane Street - Church Street - Mill Street - Wellington Street - Ballymoney Street - Thomas Street - Parkway - Broughshane Road - Raceview Road - Woodside Road.

Participants are encouraged to donate at least £20 per vehicle, which includes a ticket to a traditional Christmas Dinner provided at the venue. Additional dinner tickets will be available for £10.


All attendees must ensure their vehicles are appropriately insured for the event and follow the guidance of route marshals.


Free Santa hats will be distributed to those who come with decorated vehicles, adding to the festive spirit.


The event promises a nostalgic experience, aiming to create a memorable spectacle for children and families.
