The Ulster Automobile Club (UAC) are delighted to announce a bumper entry for the 2024 Hill Climb.

Twenty-one of the top drivers in the Motorsport UK British Hill Climb Championship presented by Nova Motorsport have made the trip across the Irish Sea to contest the first two rounds of the Championship.

The line up includes the 2023 Championship winner Wallace Menzies, looking to start his challenge for his 5th consecutive title.

He will be hotly pursued by Matt Ryder, Alex Summers, Will Hall, Trevor Willis, Dave Uren and Sean Gould and our own local 'speedster' Tim Woodside, who had a convincing win at Croft Hill Climb in Holywood a fortnight ago.

It's going to be a fantastic event so please join us from first practice at 0930 or noon for the first timed run to see who will win the coveted News Letter Trophy (awarded to the driver who sets the Fastest Time of the Day (FTD)).

The UAC are thrilled to continue our relationship with Patterson Electronics and Hytera Communications, who return for their second year as our title sponsors. Ian Culbert, Sales Director of Patterson Electronics commented:

"Craigantlet is highly regarded by local competitors and our friends in the British Hill Climb Championship as one of the fastest in the series. A hill of two halves, it presents fast sweeping corners, tight uphill twists and a fabulous finish, a bit like a good red wine!

“Craigantlet is an excellent event for beginners and experienced drivers alike, extremely well organised by a friendly and supportive team of dedicated volunteers and I am proud to be associated with the event and want to wish everyone involved a safe and enjoyable day on the Hill."

Clerk of the Course, Wilson Carson reflected:

"Craigantlet is the second round of the MS Supplies Association of Northern Ireland Car Clubs (ANICC) Hill Climb Championship and we are thrilled to have received well over 70 entries from across Ireland. It is great to welcome some new names on the entry list to compete with seasoned veterans across the 16 different classes.

“Our event programme has several must read articles; Ethan Faulkner a promising young local upcoming driver, The Hawthorne Dynasty - three generations of a highly competitive family from Northern Ireland steeped in Motorsport.

“In addition we have articles by Stuart Webster and Paul Lawrence reviewing the BHC line up for 2024 along with an commentary from Peter Herbert, a regular competitor, who loves the Craic at Craigantlet. The MG Car Club celebrate 100 years this year and there is a great historical piece by Simon Johnston. Thanks to all who have contributed to make the programme such a success".

Please Note: Spectator access will only be allowed from the bottom of the Hill Climb Course (i.e. Belmont Road (B170) approaching from the Old Holywood Road / Massey Avenue directions).
