Mid and East Antrim Borough Council joined with the rest of the nation in mourning the passion of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022 at Balmoral Castle.
Books of Condolence were opened, with the first signature being that of the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim.
The Books of Condolence were available at the Borough’s Town Halls in Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne for members of the public to sign and write a personal message if they wished to. An on-line version was also made available. The collected condolences are now bound together for posterity in a specially commissioned Book of Condolence.
A council spokesperson said:
"All the messages collected demonstrate a shared outpouring of grief and respect during the National Period of Mourning for our long reigning and gracious Queen, who dedicated her life to the service of her people and her country."
The book will be on display in each of the three areas as follows:
The Braid, Ballymena, from 1-27 June;
Carrickfergus Museum from 3-28 July; and
Larne Museum & Arts Centre from 1-29 August.
