Wedding bells can sometimes come with a side of jitters – and not just for the big day itself. Planning the perfect nuptials can feel like a Herculean task, but a Belfast-based company is stepping in to sprinkle a bit of fun into the process.
Quirky Weddings, a veteran of the local wedding scene, has joined forces with the luxurious Galgorm Resort to launch their new Wedding Planning Social, set for Sunday, 27 April.
For over a decade, Quirky Weddings has been a fixture at large wedding fairs across Northern Ireland, helping couples tie the knot since 2011. Now, they’re shaking things up with a more personal touch.
Ditching the hustle and bustle of traditional fairs, this event promises an intimate, laid-back vibe where engaged couples can get the lowdown on planning without the overwhelm.

Founders of Quirky Weddings, Saima Akram and Cate Conway
Saima Akram, co-founder of Quirky Weddings, knows the score:
“Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, so you’d like to have fun planning it,” she says. “The reality for many couples is it can be daunting. It’s hard to know what to ask and how to make the right decisions. We aim to help make it a bit more fun through the Wedding Planning Social.”
Expect cosy fireside chats with vendors, one-on-one advice, and plenty of chances to get those burning questions answered – all without the stress.
Adding a dash of flair to the day, Saima’s co-founder Cate Conway – a familiar voice as a radio presenter – will be steering the ship, hosting panel discussions with industry pros:
“We wanted to create an event where couples can get real, practical advice in a relaxed and fun atmosphere,” Cate explains. “This isn’t a typical wedding fair – it’s all about genuine guidance from experts while enjoying a bit of craic along the way!”

The event’s setting at Galgorm Resort, known for its plush surroundings near Ballymena, only sweetens the deal.
Tickets are up for grabs on Eventbrite, priced at £19.50 each or £35 for two. That gets you a glass of Prosecco on arrival to kick things off with a fizz, plus a shot at winning an overnight stay in one of Galgorm’s swanky Cottage Suites (terms and conditions apply, naturally).
Quirky Weddings isn’t new to helping lovebirds find their footing – they’ve been at it for over 10 years. They’ve also got WedPlnr in their arsenal, Northern Ireland’s only wedding planning app, designed to link couples with vendors at the tap of a screen.

This latest venture, though, is all about keeping things human, heartfelt, and just a little bit quirky.
So, if you’re knee-deep in seating charts or fretting over florists, this might just be the breather you need.
Grab a ticket, sip some bubbles, and let the experts guide you to the aisle with a smile. After all, who said planning a wedding can’t be a party too?
