Local Ulster Unionist councillor Alan Barr has expressed his condolences to the family of the man who sadly died following a road traffic collision outside Ballymena on Tuesday night (October 1).


Barr also acknowledged and praised the efforts of the emergency service crews who attended the scene of the collision which occurred on the A26 Crankill Road.


It is understood the tragic incident involved a pedestrian and a number of vehicles.



It is believed the collision happened around 10pm, Tuesday on the busy dual carriageway which was fully closed overnight through to Wednesday afternoon as police examined the scene to establish the circumstances.


The road has since reopened.



Alan Barr, Ulster Unionist Councillor for the area, said:


“Once again, we are hearing about another fatality on our roads. My thoughts and prayers are with the man's family and other road users who may have witnessed the tragedy.  


“I also want to praise the efforts of the emergency services who attended the scene. Like so many times this year, they have had to deal with scenes of carnage and tragedy on our roads.”


Police will be making no further comment.
