The Ballymena Neighbourhood Policing Team has announced a new community initiative, the 'Kickz' programme, in partnership with Rangers FC and funded by Choice Housing.
This exciting opportunity aims to engage and uplift young people particularly in the Bannside area, continuing the success of similar programmes in East and North Antrim.
Starting on Saturday, 15th February, the 'Kickz' programme will run for seven weeks, offering young locals aged 11-17 a blend of educational workshops and football sessions every Saturday from 7pm to 9pm at Ahoghill Community Centre.
With only 40 spaces available, priority will be given to youths from the Bannside villages.
The programme's curriculum is designed to address critical social issues while promoting physical activity:
- Anti-Sectarianism: Workshops will focus on fostering understanding and unity among participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Anti-Racism: Sessions will promote inclusivity and challenge racial prejudices through dialogue and team activities.
- Mental Health: Discussions and activities aimed at raising awareness and providing support for mental well-being.
- Basic First Aid: Participants will learn essential skills to handle emergencies, potentially saving lives in their community.
The programme not only offers educational content but also includes team-building trips and the unique opportunity for participants to watch a Rangers FC match at Ibrox Stadium.
To register for this transformative experience, interested individuals can contact Nathan Hanley by email at nathanhanley@rangers.co.uk or by phone at 07759 120 804 for more information.
This initiative reflects a community commitment to youth development, emphasizing the importance of sports in promoting social cohesion, education, and health.
The Ballymena Neighbourhood Policing Team, Rangers FC, and Choice Housing are excited to see the positive impact this programme will have on the young people of Ahoghill and surrounding areas.
