Ballykeel Loyal Sons of Ulster flute band will host what is touted as “one of the biggest parades” in recent times this weekend in Ballymena.
With the weather looking good a large crowd are expected to turnout on Saturday evening (18th May) to spectate along the parade route.
The organisers are anticipating upwards of 50 bands to march along the usual town centre route. Bands from across the province will be attending, including from Omagh, Londonderry, Portrush, Castlederg.
Prior to the main parade, Ballykeel Loyal Sons of Ulster will do a lap of the town, starting at 7:00pm, and will take the following route:
Waveney Road, Galgorm Road, Pentagon, Lower Mill Street, Wellington Street, Ballymoney Street, William Street, Broughshane Street, Church Street, Bridge Street, Harryville Bridge, Salisbury Square, Henry Street, Larne Street, Douglas Terrace, Paradise Avenue, Queen Street, Salisbury Square, Harryville Bridge, Waveney Road.
The main parade will set off at 8:00pm and follow the same route as above.
The parade to be lead this year by Camlachie Loyal Star flute band from Scotland.
Parade organiser Robert Thompson said:
“I'm really looking forward to great night of musical entertainment.
“Many of the bands on parade will have travelled a great distance to take part and hopefully receive a big Ballymena welcome.
“The parade will showcase some of the country's finest musical talents and will be a great advertisement for the marching bands fraternity.
“Ballykeel Loyal Sons of Ulster flute band would like to remind anyone attending the parade that this is a family friendly event and that they'll be supporting the PSNI on their zero tolerance on street drinking policy.
“We hope everyone has an enjoyable evening."
There will also be a street collection which will raise funds for the band.
