PSNI police car

Police are investigating reports of two recent burglaries and suspicious activity in the Ahoghill area.

Officers received a report at approximately 2.30pm on Sunday, 2nd June of a burglary in the Carnearney Road area.

A vacant property was entered and a number of windows were smashed – it’s believed a barometer was taken – but later located nearby.

A second report was received shortly after 3.30am on Tuesday, 18th June of a burglary at commercial premises on the Crosskeys Road.

CCTV was reviewed and observed two men, who were wearing dark trousers and dark tops, alongside scarfs and material covering their head within the yard.

They entered an area containing tools before exiting, driving the van and attempting to cut down a fence using an angle grinder.

The suspects were disturbed by the owner of the property and fled on foot into a nearby field. At this stage it is believed nothing was taken.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or out of the ordinary to call them on 101 quoting reference 136 18/06/24.
